Twenty Years Ago Today

It was twenty years ago this morning that my mom passed away while laying in her bed at home after a courageous, but brief battle with cancer. The disease overtook her body and there was little that we or modern medicine could do to stay the spread of the plague throughout her body. I don’t know why it happened, but I believe she is in a better place and has been for the last two decades, busy working, while keeping a sharp eye on me and my siblings. The regrets I have are that I did not spend more time with her at the end, that I was not more understanding in my teenage mindset, and that I never knew her as an adult and father of my own three children.

The time has flown by in the last twenty years, and as the oldest, I remember my mom well; my younger siblings hardly remember her at all. But death has no sting because of the sacrifice of our Savior. Families are eternal in nature and we will all be together again one day.
